Fall is finally here and there’s just a hint of crispness to the air. Fall in Miami means so many things: Football season, pumpkin picking, Halloween costume searching, and Thanksgiving planning. With the hot days of summer behind us, what’s more comforting than cuddling up with a hot and hearty bowl of soup? Why not make your next meal a little more fun for your family by serving their favorite soups in easy bread bowls?
On my last grocery trip to Publix, I was able to stock up on Progresso soups because right now they are having an awesome #FallSoupSeason Buy One Get One Free sale on my family’s favorites: Traditional Chicken Noodle, Rich & Hearty New England Clam Chowder, and Traditional Italian Wedding.
Now the fun thing about serving soup in a bread bowl is that kids can really get into it. They already like playing with their food, right? Well, a bread bowl makes playing with their food ok! You can even let them help scooping out the bread to put the soup into, just cut the tops for them first (it makes it a bit easier to cut the tops at an angle so you get like an upside down pyramid shaped top, but you can even cut the tops off straight across.) I picked up a beautiful round sourdough loaf fresh from the Publix bakery, but smaller round loaves would be cute for smaller portions.
Notice the upside-down pyramid shape in the top? Then just scoop out enough to fill with soup.
I chose to fill my bread bowl with Progresso’s Rich & Hearty New England Clam Chowder, but you could use any soup you wanted. Just warm up on the stove top and then use a small ladle to serve the soup into your easy bread bowl. Voila! Dinner is served!
