The story of a Miami blog…

It started off as just a silly idea. Something we joked about on those rare occasions we could get together and share a glass of wine together, (usually sitting in front of a bounce house at one of our kid’s parties, but there was this one particular happy hour at Smith & Wollensky’s….) It’s amazing how one can get more information in an hour with three other Mafia Mommies than you can get in three hours behind a computer searching on Google.

Our typical conversations sounded like this:

“Your two-year old is sleeping in your bed?” “Mine too!”

“She caught her nanny smoking pot on the balcony.” “NOOOO! Who did she use to find a new nanny?”

“So I took the headmaster out to coffee, asked him what his school ‘needed’ and whipped out my checkbook. Poof! Not on the waiting list all of a sudden..”

Mafia Mommies aren’t “The Housewives of Miami.” Some of us work outside of the home, some of us don’t. Where life used to consist of 4am nightcaps, now we’ve progressed to 4am feedings. We don’t take our gift of Motherhood for granted, or our responsibilities as a Mother lightly. We’re learning the journey is hard, challenging, sometimes scary. But there’s this attitude within us, perhaps that comes with age and that, to a degree, comes from where we are in our lives. Mommy Mafia MIAMI was created as a place to connect Mommies together. Mommy Mafia Miami is a Miami blog space and a forum where one could vent and bitch about the stresses of Mommyhood and Wifehood and also as a place to share the best of the kid-centric stuff Miami has to offer. The stuff Mafia Mommies have on speed dial. Welcome!

After living for twelve years in South Beach, this Mafia Mommy, her Accomplice husband, their Made Little Man and her two (old-enough-to-be-away-in-college-but-not-old-enough-to-pay-their-own-cell-phone-bill) Amazing Step-Daughters moved to South Miami to live the suburban dream. Continually frustrated with the work involved in finding the best kid stuff in Miami, she longed for a place where all her notes could be stored and easily accessible in one (online) place. Why not share? Surely, there was at LEAST one other mommy in Miami that could find the info useful. She loves a cool glass of Sauvignon Blanc, and the silence of 4am. Sometimes together.
