Very recently, Miami blogger and friend, Alexis of TheExhaustedMom, wrote on my facebook page “2016 is the Year of the Mafia!” and at the time, it made me want to “react” with a heart and a lol emoji. But she may have to change her blog name to “the all-knowing soothsayer blogger” because as of last Thursday, she has pretty much nailed my 2016 blogging year on the head. The reality is, that I really have been sprinkled with more than my fair share of pixie dust as of late. Last week, Hispanicize named their finalists for this year’s esteemed Tecla Awards. And there was the Mommy Mafia name, nominated and now finalist, for the “Best Sponsored Post” category.
Named after the Spanish-language word for an individual key on a keyboard, the second annual Tecla Awards will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2016 in Miami, Florida during Hispanicize 2016 Week. The Tecla Awards honor the creators, individuals, brands and organizations who are producing excellent U.S. Hispanic and/or multicultural content on the social web.
There were over 1000 nominations submitted to the 26 different categories. The awards are a co-production of the Hispanicize event and the DiMe Media creators network. The Tecla Awards are being conducted in alliance with Telemundo, the official and exclusive media partners of the awards; iBlog Magazine, the lead blog industry trade media partner, and the Hispanic PR Blog.
Winners of the 2016 Tecla Awards will be determined by a Tecla Judges Academy comprised of a blue ribbon panel of leaders shaping the future of U.S. Hispanic social media, entertainment and marketing. The judges include creators, senior brand executives, influencer network leaders, publicists and other experts in the online content development industry.
The Telca nominated post is actually one of my one of my favorites and one of my most popular posts : Why Be A Cougar When You Can Be A Shark In Heels? It’s a fun (and maybe a bit cheeky) post I had written in partnership with Shark Cleaning.
Thank You
I am honored just to be a Tecla Awards finalist, and who knows? Maybe I will be lucky enough to stand on that stage among the winners. But even if I don’t, I want to thank you, my amazing readers and followers who have been along for the ride. Thank you, Mafia Mommies, for supporting Mommy Mafia in all the ways you do. Thank you especially for your Likes, your Hearts, your Re-Tweets and your Re-Pins.
I also want to send a virtual big, wet, sloppy kiss to Erica of MamasMission, Jennifer of DiaryOfAWorkingMom, Lara of RunStrollerRun, and Sharonda of SportyMommas, my “tribe” as we like to say in the blogging world. These blogging friends of mine that have helped me, pushed me and always supported me. As a matter of fact, it was a late night back and forth texting session with these ladies that led to the creation of that cougar/shark headline. (That I LOVE.)
A huge congratulations to all of the Hispanicize Tecla Finalists, many of whom I have the honor to know, and some that I look forward to connecting with next week during Hispanicize. This is a big deal!
I invite you to follow me along socially, using the #Hispz16 and #TeclaAwards hashtags next Thursday, April 7th when the winners are announced. Fingers crossed! So much to do this week! What will I wear? I need to get my hair done! My nails! What shoes will I wear?? Actually, scratch that. I think I got a pretty hot pair of pink heels I usually vacuum with 😉
