I am always, always, rushing. Rushing to get out the door to school. Rushing to make it to the pick up line in time. Rushing to baseball practice, rushing to soccer practice, rushing to Spanish school Rushing, rushing rushing. It’s not like I’m casually laying around eating bon-bons by the pool. It’s just a daily rush to here. Rush to there. Rush to everywhere! (Sorry Dr. Seuss!)
So one of the little tricks that I’ve learned to help keep me from stressing out from the rush, is by being prepared. I know The Little Made Man is going to be starving when I pick him up from school, and I also know that I’m not going to have time to get him a full meal between school pickup and getting him to baseball practice in the afternoon. As it is, I’m packing cleats, baseball practice shirt, pants and hat in the car and changing him in the car. There is no time to squeeze in a meal. So every day, I pack him a bag of snacks, things I can just grab and go- like a Fiber One bar with his favorite chips, Doritos, and his thermos filled with ice water to give him the energy to get him through practice and to make it to dinner.
I’ve only got one little boy, and he has me rushing around town to get him to school, baseball, soccer, lacrosse, swimming and Spanish school. I bow down to my mom friends that have more than one kid and are also managing ballet, and gymnastics classes somehow. It gets hectic. What are your beat the rush tips and tricks? What are your go-to snacks for those times between baseball and ballet? The nice people over at Publix feel our pain and want to give mommies a $5 coupon towards your next snack purchase. At the end of the day, of course he deserves a little sweet treat, and what’s better than a little ice cream? Klondike ice cream sandwiches and the mini-sized versions of Ben & Jerry’s are the favorites in our house.
