I have Santa decorations up on the mantle, my wreath on the front door, and the Christmas lights have been twinkling since Novemeber 1st. My Christmas tree is up (ok, I’ll be honest, the tree is there, sitting in the living room, but I kinda gave up on the lights half-way up. I mean it’s a big tree! Those lights are a lot of work!) Of course, aside from my half-finished tree, it feels like Christmas. With Christmas comes the fun of holiday baking, for the school christmas party, cookie swaps, even cooking with the kids. Once the smell of cookies baking in the oven starts filling the house, that’s when you really know the holidays are here. Yippee! It’s Cookie Season!
So I decided today would be baking day, but I needed to get inspired. So I went to Betty Crocker’s website, that is just filled with all kinds of delicious Christmas cookie ideas and recipes. When I found a recipe for 3D Christmas Tree Cookie Stacks and I knew that was going to be my #CookieSeason holiday winner.
So after printing the recipe from the website, I headed over to Publix and picked up Betty Crocker’s Sugar Cookie Cookie Mix, butter and eggs. (Having the mix pre-made makes baking so much easier!) Publix also had these super holiday perfect red and green Ziplock containers, so picked those up as well, because I knew that I was going to be sharing these with The Little Made Man’s teachers at school.
Lucky for me, I enlisted two of my favorite girlfriends to make it a cookie bake party. So fun. One mixed the dough and rolled it out, another was in charge of using the stackable star cookie cutters that I had to get just the right number of “stars.” (We only ended up using three sizes for the Christmas tree stack cookies.) And of course, all of us were in charge of decorating and (ahem!) tasting!
A little frosting, colored sugar, sprinkles and voila! Super simple and adorable Christmas Tree Stack cookies for sharing!

My favorite Holiday cookie is cut-out sugar cookies. I remember making a lot of these with my mom and grandma and decorating with icing tinted with different colors and putting on cinnamon hots, silver balls (dragees) or sprinkles. It was a production line with all my siblings working and licking frosting and tasting to make sure they were fine. Then we put the cookies in boxes with wax paper in between and tried to save some for company.
