100 Self-Sealing Water Balloons in 60 Seconds? Really? Bunch O Balloons by Zuru
So I opened up my weekly CVS flyer from the Sunday paper and I saw in the lower corner: Zuru Bunch O Balloons: 100 Self-Sealing Water Balloons in 60 Seconds! It was one of those things that make you stop for a moment. I mean water balloons that seal themselves? How is that even possible? How in the world do water balloons seal themselves?? And 100 in 60 seconds? Now that just sounded pure infomercial crazy to me. Sure, water balloons and water ballon fights are a summer staple, but EVERYONE knows filling water balloons- well, that basically sucks. NOBODY wants to spend all that time stretching the ring of the balloon around the faucet, then hold the neck of the balloon and then hope all the water doesn’t shoot out in your face AND THEN go and tie a knot in the balloon to get it water balloon battle ready? ICK. Yes, you can tell yourself it’s all worth it to see the joy on your kids’ faces when they are pelting one another later, but come on. It’s not the best way to spend your time. Needless to say, I was seriously intrigued by this little corner of the CVS Pharmacy ad. I needed to know more. I needed to know: Does Bunch O Balloons REALLY Work? There was a part of me that was convinced it was an “As Seen On TV” kinda scam, but then there was this little, teeny, tiny voice whispering…..but maybe, just maybe, it actually works?
So I made a trip over to CVS and found:
They were $9.99 a pack. I opened the package and inside was this:
A package of Bunch O Balloons includes what is basically 3 sets of balloons attached together. Each set had 37 balloons on it. According to the directions (and common sense), you just had to screw the balloons to the garden hose. Easy enough.
I recruited the The Little Made Man to help me out.
Now here’s the good part. Watch what happens:
CRAZY! They TOTALLY just filled up! Amazing. Seriously, Game Changer.
The super-secret self-sealing close-up:So Does Bunch O Balloons Really Work?
Yes they do! Here’s some Zuru Bunch O Balloon tips:
- Magically, when the balloons are filling, they will “drop” on their own. You can also gently “shake” the water hose and they will drop off. If you shake them too early, they will drop and be too small, so try and let them just drop on their own.
- Some of the smaller ones do not “pop” that easily. We found that you could throw them and hit your target, and they would not pop. Sometimes getting hit with a water balloon that doesn’t pop isn’t that much fun. Make sure to make a rule with the kiddos that balloons can only be thrown from the shoulders down. Aiming at the head should be off limits. Throwing the water balloons on grass or cement seemed to pop them just fine.
- According to the packaging, Bunch O Balloons are intended for ages 3 and up.
- I went back to CVS for more and they were sold out, so I went to ToysRUs and found them there. At ToysRUs, they were $11.99/pack. The Zuru Bunch O Balloons are also available on Amazon, but they are currently at a higher price point, you can check them out on Amazon here. There are some other water balloon brands out there, that claim to do the same thing, but I haven’t tried them, so I don’t know if they work as well as the Zuru Bunch O Balloons or not, but you may want to check out Balloon Bonanza and Crazy Balloons.
These crazy little balloons are going to take our water balloon battles to a whole new level!

See and I thought they were a crock! I’ll have to get them now – awesome!

I didn’t believe either, Kristen! Make sure to let them fill as big as they can on their own and let them drop, don’t shake them off too early.

http://www.cleanwater.org/problem-marine-plastic-pollution Do you even care about the planet or wildlife? The company claims they are biodegradable, but do you pick up every straw and piece of the balloon!!! Seriously! How can you promote a product like this that is totally wasteful and ignore the effect of plastic on marine life? I notice I have to submit my email so you will likely stick your head in the sand.

So fabulous!! Talk about making a water balloon fight way easier!! Thank you for testing them and sharing because I was super skeptical too!! And I was so curious as to how they sealed!! The secret is out now 😉

Am I the only one crazy? $10 each time I fill 100 balloons? 10 cents a ballon will make this a not so much fun toy very fast.
Mommy Mafia says
No Steve, you are not crazy. These balloons are not exactly the most budget friendly toy out there. But for me personally, the amount of time I saved not having to tie each individual balloon was totally worth the cost. Also, I wear acrylic nails, and long nails are definitely not made for balloon tying!

I was surprised that yours worked so well! I bought some to try and out of two bunches, I had about half of one bunch that didn’t inflate and half of the other. I forced almost half of the ones that didn’t work to inflate by attempting to plug the ends of the straws of the balloons that worked. I was really disappointed.
